At Zofa, we want to make it as simple as possible to create a sofa that feels right for your home. In some cases, this may include a bespoke request, such as choosing a past Zofa fabric, using your own material, ordering fabric by the metre, or asking us to make modifications beyond the standard models shown on our website.
Because these orders are made, sourced, cut or adapted specifically for you, different terms apply.
For the purposes of these terms, a “bespoke”, “modified” or “custom-fabric” order includes any goods that are made, altered, sourced, cut or finished to your specific requirements.
This may include, but is not limited to:
Sofas, chairs, footstools or other furniture made using fabric supplied by you, also known as COM or customer’s own material;
Sofas, chairs, footstools or other furniture made using a past Zofa fabric that is no longer sold as a standard fabric option on our website;
Sofas, chairs, footstools or other furniture made using a non-standard or specially requested fabric;
Fabric ordered by the metre;
Changes to the standard size, shape, configuration, feet, finish or design of a product;
Any other modification that is not part of the standard options available on our website at the time you place your order.
We will confirm the details of your bespoke, modified or custom-fabric order with you before production begins.
Bespoke Zofa fabric orders and COM orders are subject to an additional 5% charge.
This charge reflects the extra handling, planning, checking and production requirements involved in making a product outside of our standard website options.
Any additional costs will be confirmed with you before your order is accepted.
Bespoke, modified and custom-fabric orders may take longer than our standard lead time.
In some circumstances, this may add two weeks or more to the standard lead time, depending on the fabric, materials, modification requested, production schedule, or the availability of any specially requested items.
We will give you an estimated lead time when your order is confirmed. Lead times are estimates only, and we will contact you if anything changes.
If you choose to supply your own fabric or material, you are responsible for ensuring that it is suitable for upholstery use.
This includes making sure the fabric is appropriate for the intended product, durable enough for the expected use, and compliant with any relevant fire safety or furnishing regulations. We may ask for further information about the fabric before accepting your order.
We reserve the right to refuse to use a customer-supplied fabric if we believe it is unsuitable, unsafe, non-compliant, or likely to affect the quality, appearance or performance of the finished product.
Please note that natural variations, pattern placement, texture, stretch, pile direction, colour variation or other characteristics of customer-supplied materials may affect the finished appearance of the product. We will take reasonable care when working with your fabric, but we cannot guarantee that it will behave or appear in exactly the same way as Zofa’s standard fabric options.
We accept COM orders on the basis that, if something goes wrong during manufacture, we will do our best to put it right to the best of our ability.
However, because the fabric or material has been supplied by you, we cannot refund the cost of that fabric or material if something goes wrong. This is because those sums have not been paid to Zofa.
Where possible, we will discuss the available options with you, which may include repair, reworking or another appropriate solution, depending on the issue and the amount of fabric available.
We recommend supplying additional fabric where possible, especially if the material is patterned, delicate, discontinued or difficult to replace.
If you purchase fabric by the metre, it is your responsibility to check that the correct fabric and meterage has been received before any cutting, use or production begins.
Please check the fabric carefully when it arrives, including the colour, texture, pattern, quantity and any visible faults.
Fabric by the metre cannot be returned once it has been cut, used or accepted, unless it is faulty.
No fabric by the metre will be accepted for return unless there is a fault with the fabric.
Before we begin making your bespoke, modified or custom-fabric product, we will ask you to confirm the details of your order. This may include the fabric, model, measurements, configuration, modification details, meterage, fabric direction and any other agreed changes.
It is your responsibility to check these details carefully. Once you have confirmed the order and production has started, we may not be able to make further changes.
If you notice an error, please contact us as soon as possible at info@zofa.co.uk. We will do our best to help, but changes cannot be guaranteed once production has begun.
Bespoke, modified, custom-fabric and customer-supplied material orders are made, sourced, cut or adapted specifically for you. For this reason, they cannot be returned or cancelled once production has begun, unless the product is faulty or we have made a mistake with your order.
This means Zofa’s standard 30-day returns policy does not apply to bespoke, modified, custom-fabric or customer-supplied material orders.
This includes products made using past Zofa fabrics that are no longer sold as standard fabric options on our website.
We recommend taking extra care before placing your order, including checking measurements, access requirements, fabric suitability, fabric quantity, fabric choice and any agreed modifications.
Nothing in these bespoke terms affects your legal rights.
If your bespoke, modified or custom-fabric product is faulty, or if we have made a mistake with your order, please contact us as soon as possible at info@zofa.co.uk. You can also call our customer service team on 0333 050 6614 (Mon to Fri: 9am - 3pm).
We may ask for photographs, videos or further information so that we can understand the issue and find the right solution. Where the product is faulty or does not match the agreed order details, we will work with you to arrange a suitable remedy, which may include repair, replacement or another appropriate solution.
If the issue is caused by fabric or material supplied by you, including its suitability, quality, performance, compliance, behaviour during manufacture, or the quantity supplied, we may not be responsible for the fault.
Our usual delivery terms apply to bespoke, modified and custom-fabric orders.
Please make sure the product will fit into your home before placing your order. This includes checking doorways, staircases, lifts, hallways, tight corners and the room where the product will be placed.
If a bespoke, modified or custom-fabric product cannot be delivered because of access issues, it cannot be returned simply because it does not fit, unless we have made a mistake with the agreed measurements or specification.
Where applicable, Zofa’s standard guarantees will continue to apply to the parts of the product made by Zofa, including the sofa frame and Zoflex™ seat cushions.
However, our guarantees do not cover issues caused by customer-supplied fabrics, non-standard materials, past fabrics, specially requested fabrics, or modifications requested by you where those materials or changes affect the product’s performance, durability or appearance.
If you have any questions about a bespoke, modified, custom-fabric or customer-supplied material order, please contact us before placing your order.
